Careful sorting and preparation of your recycled materials can put money in your pocket by categorizing the metal as “clean scrap.” For example, stripping the plastic from cooper wiring brings a higher price for the copper. Remove wood, plastic, and fluids from your metal. If a piece is aluminum or another non-ferrous metal, remove steel screws and brackets from it. Don’t mix your metals. Sort them so that you get the highest price possible.
